10 Step Daily Routine for Glowing Skin
Do you ever notice how Korean women have the best flawless skin ever? Most of us assume that it is all about genes; I just want to tell you that this notion is almost completely wrong. Korean women work meticulously to get that poreless look. Here is the daily night skincare ritual that Koreans diligently follow-
1. Eye Makeup Removal
It is critical to start with the eyes as this area is very sensitive to touch and motion. Remove your eye make up with a good oil based cleanser or cleaning tissues. If you are wearing a long-lasting lipstick, remove it too using the same cleanser.
Some of the popular oil based cleansers available in India are- Cetaphil, Thalgo, Soul Tree, FabIndia, Body Shop and Lakme Cleansers.
2. Cleanse
After the eyes and lips, use a good quality oil based cleanser on your face and neck. Massage the cleanser really well using circular motions and wipe it off.
You can either buy a cleanser or you can make one at home. For dry skin, I’d suggest mixing a spoon of yoghurt with a spoon of honey. For oily skin, use 2/3 spoons of milk. Make sure you wash your face with lukewarm water after using these homemade cleansers.
3. Exfoliate
It is important to exfoliate a few times in a week, but less is always better as you don’t want to irritate the skin. Concentrate more on your T zone and areas around the nose whenever you do.
Some of the best face scrubs available in India come from Himalaya, The Body Shop and Neutrogena.
4. Refresh
After exfoliation, apply a good toner to remove any leftover cleanser or pollutant from your skin.
For oily or combination skin, use Lotus Herbals Basiltone or FabIndia tea tree skin toner. For normal skin use Jovees cucumber toner or L’oreal Hydra Fresh.
5. Essence
Facial treatment essence is the latest new product in the whole world. SK-II is a P&G product that was introduced in Japan during the 80’s and is still not readily available in India. Women all over the world claim that there is a massive change in their skin texture after using an essence.
H2O Plus also has an Advanced Brightening Essence in India.
6. Ampoule
Ampoules are highly concentrated essences and are referred to as serums or boosters. It helps in reaching out to the inner layers of the skin which a regular cream cannot do.
The best serums available in Indian market are Pond’s, Olay, Shahnaz Husain, Lotus Herbals and The Body Shop.
7. Sheet Mask
Sheet masks are trying to replace the old traditional face masks. They are packed with vitamins, amino acids and minerals- but the truth is they don’t replace the traditional facials in anyway at all. This is more of a luxury in my opinion, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
8. Eye Cream
Gently tap the eye cream around the eye area; this eliminates all that tugging and pulling and leads to better absorption.
The most popular eye creams available in India are from Khadi, FabIndia, Shahnaz Husain and Garnier.
9. Moisturizer
Generously massage your favourite moisturizer and create yet another layer.
10. Night Cream
By the time you reach this step, your face would look like a layered cake and would be supple and dewy; which is exactly how the Korean women look. Dab your favourite night cream and you are all ready to go for bed.
Follow this routine at least once in a week to start noticing differences.
